First Cups of
Fizzy Fruit™ Sell For Over $1,000
Innovative fresh fruit soon to debut in stores generates
auction interest,
proceeds to benefit charity
Portland, Ore. – September 11, 2006 –
In celebration of the upcoming retail launch of its
sparkling fresh fruit, The Fizzy Fruit™ Company auctioned a
special limited release of its first ten officially signed
and numbered Fizzy Fruit cups. The innovative fruit will be
sold in 5 oz. cups at supermarkets at a price ranging from
$1.99 to $2.49. The very first release of specially
numbered Fizzy Fruit cups fetched $1,028 from a bidder
located in Massachusetts. All proceeds from the auction
will be donated to Children’s Hunger Fund, a non-profit
organization dedicated to providing food, clothing and other
resources to children in the United States and abroad.
One bite of
Fizzy Fruit reveals that this is no ordinary fruit. A
patented process infuses carbonation into the water already
contained in fruit and gives the fruit a light and
refreshing effervescence. Not to be mistaken for a
beverage, Fizzy Fruit is sparkling fresh fruit… a whole new
taste sensation. All natural Fizzy Fruit contains no
preservatives or added sugars, and it has the same nutrients
and fiber content as regular fresh cut fruit.
Fizzy Fruit is available as a healthy snack
alternative in breakfast and lunch programs in schools
across the country. Fizzy Fruit will also soon be available
in select supermarkets and other retail outlets starting in
California before rolling out across the country.
“The
auction was a fun way to support a worthwhile charity and
build excitement leading up to the
much anticipated arrival of Fizzy Fruit in stores,” said
Alex Espalin, chief marketing officer, The Fizzy Fruit
Company. “Fizzy Fruit is a whole new way to enjoy fresh
fruit… a fun and healthy taste
experience that is every bit as intriguing as it is
delicious.”
Fizzy Fruit was first introduced in Oregon
elementary school lunch programs in December 2005 and
expanded rapidly to schools coast to coast.
