Hey,
S.M.A.R.T. eaters, because you are Safe,
Mature, And Really
Thoughtful, how would you like to teach
your brothers and sisters under age 6 to eat safely too? |
|
You can help
your little brothers and sisters to be safe from choking
dangers. Because the youngest members of your family
only have a few teeth and a very small airway, they
might choke on pieces of food or other small things
around the house. (Even older children and adults can
still choke if they are not careful.)
Please
remember: Do not give food to your little siblings
without your parents’ permission and when your parents
are not around. Also, please do not give your little
siblings small things like coins because these things
might get stuck in their throat.
You can teach your younger
brothers and sisters this little poem to help them
remember to eat safely.
Just please be sure that they
do not say this poem or
sing the words while they are eating!
Remember that talking or singing while you are eating
can make any kid – older or younger – be more likely to
choke! Your parents want to be around when you and your
siblings are eating, so one thing you can do is gather
your family together during meals and help the little
ones say this poem before everyone eats.
